 Treatment Programs

H.S.A. Counseling, Inc. offers comprehensive intake, evaluation and referral services.  Following this phase of treatment clients are encouraged to enter the level of treatment that is clinically appropriate.  We offer three distinct programs within H.S.A. which are further defined by following the appropriate link below.

     Partial Hospitalization

    Intensive Outpatient

    Traditional Outpatient

The intake & evaluation process usually takes two sessions.  During the first session the client is evaluated for emergency needs including detoxification.  A comprehensive biopsychosocial history is also collected during the first session.  When ever possible, additional collateral information is collected from family members and significant others.  With the clients permission, information may also be elicited from employers, family physicians, schools and probation and parole officers if appropriate.  During the second session an in-depth clinical interview is conducted based on the information provided by the client and other collateral information.  At the conclusion of the clinical interview, the therapist will evaluate the client for a substance related disorder using the criteria established in the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.  If the clinical findings indicate the existence of a substance related disorder we use a tool called the Pennsylvania Client Placement Criteria to determine the most clinically appropriate level of treatment for the individual client.  The results of the diagnostic evaluation as well as the clinical recommendations are fully explained to the client, and his parents if he is under 14 years of age.  At the client's request, family members or significant others may also be in attendance during the explanation of the results and recommendations.

If the client is appropriate for one of the treatment programs offered at H.S.A. Counseling, Inc. arrangements are made to enroll the client in that program.  Treatment is initiated as soon as possible.  Treatment is not based on a set number of treatment sessions as the severity of each client's addiction is different.  Also clients respond differently to treatment.  Treatment at H.S.A. Counseling, Inc. is based on setting established goals with the client then working together to reach those goals.

If the client is in need of treatment services that are not provided by H.S.A. Counseling, Inc.  our staff with help to make arrangements for the needed treatment at an appropriate facility.  H.S.A. Counseling, Inc. can make recommendations for appropriate facilities, however, at times the funding source may control the programs that are available to the client.
